SUMMER 1926
SS23 COLLECTION

Milan, 23rd September 2022 – on the occasion of the Milan Fashion Week, Beatrice .b presents SUMMER 1926, the new SS23 collection.

Beatrice. b Spring/Summer 2023 collection seeks contemporaneity through pure forms and uncontaminated colours. The Island of Tahiti is the background of this new chapter, which is expressed through the study of the artworks of two great French artists that portrayed it: Gauguin and Matisse. Gauguin’s hyperrealism and Matisse’s abstract lines are reinterpreted, creating a collection in which colour, light and the rough and true beauty of nature dominate.

SUMMER 1926 was born during a research trip in an historical archive of prints in which a traditional Polynesian illustration was kept, which has become the narrative and aesthetic strand of this collection. From geometric and primitivistic illustrations to realistic prints of Polynesian landscapes, everything focuses on colour. The colours of traditional Tahitian prints such as chai tea, cocoa and red are inserted onto the euphoric and energetic hues of Matisse’s canvases such as flash green, supersonic blue and limelight, giving dynamism to the silhouettes of the collection.

The symbols of the Polynesian tradition such as the mirrored flower and the intertwined suns also become the symbols of the collection, represented as embroideries in the shirts, as prints in the cotton fabrics or as lace in the garments with bohemian allure, creating a visual and conceptual coherence.

Femininity is mixed with contemporary constructions, stretching between conceptual proposals and handcraft details: the cut-out trend is developed with handmade embroideries, fluid and natural fabrics are matched with more technical fabrics and classic shapes are developed in innovative volumes.

The accessories do have same approach, with an unexpected mix of textures and a strong visual appeal: the iconic Beatrice. b bag is offered in three sizes and is reinterpreted combining leather and natural canvas in this summer edition, while colourful braided sandals in eco-leather and eco-suede are decorated with mother-of-pearl charms.

Sustainability continues to be the focus for the study of the raw materials and for the creative choices. The print, distinctive sign of Beatrice. b brand, is not only made through a ZDHC process that allows an important reduction of water consumption, but also, starting from this season, it affects the bases with BCI, FSC or GRS certifications. The organic fabrics like the hemp are renewed for creating iconic garments like shirts and daily dresses with total white ruffles embellished with multicolour embroideries. Among the news of the season, there is the viscose jersey that is FSC certified and the cupro –or vegetable silk - that is made with regenerated cellulose. Sustainable fabrics that give life to timeless garments.
